Grimy Times has learned that 41-year-old Steven Re has been charged with possession of stolen firearms in Louisiana.
According to the indictment, Re possessed a .22 caliber rifle, a .410 gauge shotgun, and a 20-gauge shotgun while knowing or having reasonable cause to believe the firearms were stolen.
Re faces as to each count a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years, a maximum fine of $250,000, a maximum term of supervised release of three years, and a mandatory $100 special assessment.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced the charges on February 15, 2018.
Evans reiterated that an indictment is merely a charging document and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that has been historically successful in bringing together all levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
