MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Zachary Thomas Carson, a/k/a Zach Thomas Carson, 36, from Stilwell, has been handed down a 36-month federal prison sentence for Felon in Possession of Ammunition. This comes after a meticulous investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), District 27 Drug Task Force, Stilwell Police Department, and Adair County Sheriff’s Office.
Carson’s conviction stemmed from a routine traffic stop on April 21, 2025. Officers uncovered 255 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, a single round of .22 caliber hornet ammunition, one spent casing, and two rifle magazines loaded with 40 rounds each. At the time of the seizure, Carson had been previously convicted of a crime carrying a sentence of more than one year.
Carson’s plea on June 10, 2025, marked another victory in Operation Take Back America, a DOJ-led initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting local communities. This case is part of the broader PSN and OCDETF efforts to streamline resources against organized crime.
Presiding over the hearing was the Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Carson will be transported by the U.S. Marshals Service to a designated Bureau of Prisons facility where he must serve his non-paroleable sentence without delay.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob R. Parker, ensuring that justice was served in this instance of illegal firearm possession.
