STOCKTON, CA – Rayshawn Williams, a 20-year-old native of Stockton, California, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for his role in the illegal trafficking of firearms, including two machine guns.
The U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced that between May and July 2024, Williams sold ten firearms to an undercover informant on the streets of Stockton. Among these were Glock pistols equipped with ‘switches,’ allowing them to fire in fully automatic mode.
This investigation was a joint effort by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Stockton Police Department’s Crime Gun Intelligence Center. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Hitt and Zulkar Khan are handling the prosecution.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 9, 2025, before U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez. Williams faces a maximum penalty of 10 years for each machine gun charge, five years for illegal firearms trafficking, and a fine of $250,000. However, the final sentence will be determined by the court’s discretion.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at eliminating transnational criminal organizations and violent crime. The operation coordinates resources from OCDETFs and Project Safe Neighborhood to strengthen community safety.
