A 25-year-old Agency Village, South Dakota, man has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in the sexual abuse of a minor.
According to court documents, Sylanus Flute, engaged in nonconsensual sexual acts with a juvenile female under the age of 16 between February and April of 2017.
Flute, who was over 22 years old at the time, will serve 50 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
The court also ordered Flute to pay $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The investigation into Flute’s actions was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe’s Law Enforcement.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy R. Jehangiri prosecuted the case in U.S. District Court.
Flute was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
