MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – A shocking case of child neglect rocks Tahlequah as Lloyd William McDaniel, 35, pleads guilty to a monstrous charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma revealed that McDaniel admitted to one count of Child Neglect in Indian Country, an offense that could land him behind bars for life and cost him $250,000.
The Indictment asserts that on November 13, 2023, McDaniel, entrusted with the care of a minor, deliberately failed to shield the child from the dangers of illegal drug possession and use. The heinous act took place within Cherokee County, situated on the Cherokee Nation Reservation in Oklahoma’s Eastern District.
This harrowing episode was uncovered by a joint effort between the Tahlequah Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is now in the hands of the Honorable Jason A. Robertson, who presided over the guilty plea and directed the completion of a presentence investigation report.
McDaniel has been released on bond, pending his sentencing, which will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge, based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other pertinent factors. Assistant U.S. Attorney Morgan Muzljakovich represented the United States in this chilling case.
