Marsha Renee Wright’s violent encounter with a dangerous weapon has landed her behind bars on probation. The 29-year-old Tahlequah resident was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay $5,100 in restitution for an assault that shook Indian Country in Oklahoma.

In a gritty tale of retribution, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced the sentence against Wright. She faced charges for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country, violations of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 113(a)(3), 1151 and 1153.

The Cherokee Nation Marshal Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation into the incident. Wright was indicted in September 2013, and she pled guilty in November 2013, accepting her fate for the crime committed on August 29, 2013.

According to the Indictment, Wright drove her vehicle with intent to harm when she rammed it into another occupied vehicle within the Eastern District of Oklahoma’s Indian country. The attack was deliberate and violent, leaving a mark on both victims and the community.

The hearing was presided over by Honorable Ronald A. White in Muskogee, who made sure Wright faced the consequences of her actions. Assistant United States Attorney Dean Burris represented the prosecution, ensuring justice was served for the assault committed within Indian Country.

Wright’s sentence sends a clear message about the severity of violence in Indian Country and the commitment to bring those who commit such crimes to justice.
