GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: In a gritty turn of events, JAMI STALEY, better known as ‘KOUNTRY’, from the small town of Vian, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a severe charge that threatens to mar his future for years to come.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma dropped a bombshell with this announcement. Staley, 31 years old, faced charges under Title 21, United States Code, Section 856, for maintaining drug involved premises. This charge is the result of an intensive investigation by local and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Sallisaw Police Department, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The indictment paints a chilling picture. Staley is accused of operating from 307 Dennis St., Vian, Oklahoma, from August 1, 2012, to the present date, as a hotbed for the distribution, manufacturing, and use of methamphetamine, a Schedule II Controlled Substance. The case has been brewing since August 2013, when the charges were first laid against him.
Today’s hearing was presided over by the Honorable Kimberly E. West, a Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, located in Muskogee. Staley remains in the clutches of the United States Marshal Service as he awaits sentencing.
The potential punishment is severe. If convicted, Staley could face up to 20 years imprisonment and a fine that could reach half a million dollars. Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Waters represented the government in this pivotal case.
