A 28-year-old Tallahassee man, Amontea Allen John Mitchell, has been federally indicted for attempting to entice a minor and transferring obscene material to a minor, as well as possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The crimes allegedly occurred in Tallahassee, Florida, although the exact timeline is not specified. Mitchell’s indictment is the result of a joint investigation by multiple agencies. The motive behind Mitchell’s actions is not clear.
Mitchell faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life imprisonment if convicted of the attempted enticement of a minor. He also faces up to 10 years for the attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor and up to 15 years for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. His arraignment was held in federal court, and a jury trial is scheduled for August 24, 2026.
