TALLAHASSEE, FL – Ennis Alexander Andrews, 44, of Tallahassee, Florida, will spend the next 22 years behind bars for his role in a ‘Molly’ trafficking ring.
Andrews, a repeat offender, was sentenced to 264 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute alpha-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone, commonly known as ‘alpha-pyrrolidinovalerophenone,’ ‘alpha-PVP,’ or ‘Molly.’
According to the DOJ, investigators conducted a series of controlled drug purchases from Andrews between August and October 2022. When officers attempted to arrest him on October 13, 2022, Andrews attempted to flee, leading to his eventual detention and the discovery of several ounces of ‘Molly’ on his person.
“Our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners work tirelessly to keep us safe by removing addictive and deadly controlled substances from our communities,” said U.S. Attorney Jason R. Coody. “We remain committed to support their efforts through the investigation and prosecution of criminals bringing drugs into North Florida. The imposed sentences illustrate the significant consequences of harming our citizens through their illicit drug trafficking activities.”
Andrews’ sentence will be followed by 6 additional years of supervised release. At the time of the investigation, he was already serving a term of federal supervised release imposed after his release from prison in July 2022.
Collaborations between local law enforcement and federal agencies, such as the DEA, are crucial in taking down trafficking rings like Andrews’. “We truly value our partnerships in our efforts toward eradicating these dangerous drugs from our streets and neighborhoods,” said Special Agent in Charge Deanne L. Reuter, DEA Miami Field Division.
The case was a result of a joint investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant United States Attorney Eric K. Mountin prosecuted the case, which highlights the commitment of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida to addressing illegal drug activity in the community.
