TAMPA, FL – Cameron Mosley, 30, of Tampa, is headed to federal prison for over a decade after being sentenced for peddling methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge William F. Jung handed down a 10-year and 7-month sentence on Mosley, who pleaded guilty February 2, 2024, to possession with intent to distribute the deadly drug.
The bust originated from a recorded phone conversation on March 31, 2023. Mosley, using a coded alias, placed an order for methamphetamine with his supplier, identified as Enock Edouard. The pair discussed not only the quantity of the drugs, but also the intended end use by Mosley’s clientele – a clear indication of a wide-reaching distribution network. They agreed to meet at a Tampa restaurant, setting the stage for a law enforcement takedown.
What followed was a desperate attempt at evasion. When officers moved to intercept Mosley, he floored it, initiating a high-speed chase through the streets of Tampa. As he fled, aerial surveillance captured Mosley actively discarding evidence – throwing a package from his vehicle in a blatant effort to destroy crucial narcotics. The contents of that package would later prove to be his downfall.
Later that evening, Mosley and Edouard had another phone conversation, openly discussing the thrown methamphetamine and the near-miss with law enforcement. This conversation served as damning evidence of their guilt. The following day, Mosley was arrested, and a search of the area where he’d jettisoned the package recovered over 40 grams of pure methamphetamine – enough to inflict serious damage on the community.
Enock Edouard, Mosley’s co-conspirator, was also brought to justice, convicted after a bench trial and now awaiting his own sentencing. This case was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Tampa Police Department, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, operating under the umbrella of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF).
