A Tyler County woman has been hit with federal charges after threatening to kill President Donald Trump in 2019.
Taryn Corinne Henthorn, 25, of Middlebourne, West Virginia, was indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts of “Threatening to Kill the President of the United States” on January 2019 in Tyler County.
According to the indictment, Henthorn made threats on Facebook and elsewhere to kill the then-President, sparking a federal investigation.
The United States Secret Service investigated the case, which has now been brought before a federal grand jury.
Henthorn could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count, according to the indictment. The actual sentence will be based on the seriousness of the offenses and Henthorn’s prior criminal history, if any.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. Henthorn is presumed innocent until proven guilty, as an indictment is merely an accusation.
Henthorn’s trial date has not yet been set, and she remains a defendant in the case.
