Taylor M. Washington, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, West Virginia 2020

A Harrison County man has admitted to a firearms charge, according to a guilty plea in federal court. Taylor M. Washington, 29, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to one count of Unlawful Possession of Firearm on an unspecified date in 2020 in Harrison County.

Washington, a person prohibited from having firearms because of a prior conviction, admitted to having a .22LR caliber semi-automatic rifle in July 2020. This possession was a clear violation of the law, as Washington was not allowed to have firearms due to his prior conviction.

According to court documents, Washington faces up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher L. Bauer is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives and the Bridgeport Police Department investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the case.
