MOBILE, AL – In a shocking turn of events, a Baldwin County man has been handed a hefty prison sentence for his involvement in methamphetamine distribution.
Teddy Rivers, 57, was sentenced to 292 months in custody by United States District Court Judge Callie V.S. Granade. When released from custody, Rivers will serve an eight-year term of supervised release. Rivers will be subject to search upon reasonable suspicion that he has violated the conditions of supervision, and he will also be subject to drug testing and treatment.
Rivers’ troubles began in August 2022, when law enforcement executed a traffic stop on him. Upon search, officers found 48.8 grams of pure methamphetamine in Rivers’ possession. Rivers admitted to regularly selling the illicit substance to a number of individuals, and acknowledged that he had been doing so for some time.
This is not Rivers’ first run-in with the law. In 2007, he was convicted of Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine at the federal level, and in 2021, he was convicted of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute at the state level.
The case against Rivers was investigated by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gloria Bedwell prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
Rivers’ sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in methamphetamine distribution. The illicit substance has devastating effects on communities, and those who deal it will be held accountable.
The verdict sends a clear message to those involved in methamphetamine distribution: you will face the full force of the law.
