Tennessee Rioter Jennings Pleads Guilty to Jan. 6 Capitol Breach

Washington – Tennessee’s Allan Jennings has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of civil disorder and a misdemeanor charge of destruction of government property, stemming from his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. The 57-year-old, from Hillsboro, Tennessee, faces sentencing on Oct. 4.

Jennings traveled to Washington, D.C., for the “Stop the Steal” rally and subsequent election-related events. Court documents indicate that he joined a violent crowd at the Capitol building, where they attacked law enforcement officers. Jennings shattered a $825 glass door, aiding the mob’s advance into the Capitol.

The FBI arrested Jennings in Tennessee on Sept. 12, 2023. The Department of Justice National Security Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia are handling his prosecution.

Since Jan. 6, 2021, over 1,450 individuals have been charged for crimes related to the Capitol breach, including more than 500 charged with felonies. The investigation into this incident continues.

Jennings’ actions and those of others that day caused significant damage and disruption to a session of Congress. His guilty plea is yet another step in holding accountable those involved in the violent riot at the heart of our nation’s capital.
