Terence Wilson, Child Exploitation, New York 2023

A Schenectady man has pleaded guilty to the heinous crime of child exploitation. Terence Wilson, 40, admitted to sexually exploiting a child from the age of 8 until they were 15, creating approximately 50 videos depicting the abuse.

Under the terms of his guilty plea, Wilson will face an imprisonment term of at least 25 years and up to 35 years when he is sentenced before Chief United States District Judge Brenda K. Sannes on November 9, 2023. He also faces a fine of up to $250,000 and will have to pay restitution to the victim. In addition, Wilson will have to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

The case was investigated by the FBI and its Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes members of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, including the New York State Police. Former Assistant United States Attorney Rachel L. Williams and Assistant United States Attorneys Michael D. Gadarian and Adrian LaRochelle prosecuted this case as part of Project Safe Childhood.

Project Safe Childhood is a program launched in May 2006 by the government to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The program is led by United States Attorney’s offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS).
