A Fairmont man has been brought to justice for a firearms charge after a guilty plea. Terrance Cecil Clark, 28, was sentenced to 41 months of incarceration for one count of ‘Unlawful Possession of Firearm.’
According to investigators, Clark was in possession of a 9mm pistol in Marion County in May 2020. At the time, Clark was prohibited from having a firearm due to prior convictions.
U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II announced the sentencing, which took place on an unspecified date in 2021. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah E. Wagner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives providing key evidence.
U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case. Clark’s guilty plea came in March 2021, marking a major breakthrough in the investigation.
The sentence of 41 months is a serious consequence for Clark’s actions. As a prohibited person, he had a duty to avoid possessing firearms, and his failure to do so has now resulted in significant prison time.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to firearms laws in West Virginia and elsewhere. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
