Terrell Anderson, a 25-year-old resident of Bridgeport, West Virginia, has been found guilty of possessing child pornography, according to a recent court ruling. The guilty verdict was handed down after a two-day trial in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.
Anderson was charged with one count of ‘Possession of Child Pornography’ following an investigation by the Bridgeport Police Department in January 2020. The evidence presented in court showed that Anderson had child pornography on his phone at the time of the investigation.
The federal jury delivered the guilty verdict after deliberating on the evidence presented. Anderson now faces up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys David J. Perri and Danae DeMasi-Lemon prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. Senior U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the trial.
The guilty verdict in this case serves as a reminder of the severity of child pornography charges. Possessing or distributing child pornography is a serious offense that can have severe consequences for those found guilty.
Anderson is currently awaiting sentencing, where the court will determine the final outcome of his case. The exact date of sentencing has not been released. Those found guilty of child pornography charges often face significant prison time and fines, making it essential for individuals to be aware of the laws surrounding this issue.
