Terrence Denon Miller, a/k/a “Wank,” 30, of Dover, North Carolina, was convicted yesterday by a federal jury on charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fifty grams or more of methamphetamine and a quantity of cocaine, along with possession of the same amounts of meth and heroin. The verdict, delivered in New Bern, marks the latest chapter in Miller’s long-running criminal entanglement with narcotics and law enforcement.
Court records reveal Miller was no stranger to the justice system. In 2016, he was convicted in Craven County Superior Court on felony charges including possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II-cocaine, attempted trafficking in opium or heroin, and possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II-oxycodone. Those convictions landed him on state probation with electronic monitoring—a restriction he violated just two years later.
On April 6, 2018, agents from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety: Adult Probation and Parole executed a search at Miller’s residence in La Grange. When law enforcement entered, Miller bolted toward the kitchen. Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Narco immediately alerted to narcotics. Officers recovered over 80 grams of crystal methamphetamine—lab-tested at 95% purity—heroin, two digital scales, marijuana, a grinder, and a loaded magazine in the master bedroom and bathroom.
Testimony during trial painted a broader pattern. In 2014, Craven County deputies had raided Miller’s previous home in Dover, seizing oxycodone pills, crack cocaine, and more than $4,000 in cash. Then in 2016, the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office placed Miller under surveillance after spotting him conducting meetings at a business known as a drug trafficking hub.
Now facing a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in federal prison, Miller is set for sentencing in November 2020. U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan accepted the jury’s verdict. In addition to prison time, the court ordered Miller to forfeit a 2007 Mercedes Benz Coupe linked to the drug operation.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, Craven County Sheriff’s Office, Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, and North Carolina Department of Public Safety: Adult Probation and Parole. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dena J. King is prosecuting. U.S. Attorney Robert J. Higdon, Jr. of the Eastern District of North Carolina announced the conviction. Case details are available via the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina or PACER under Case No. 4:18-cr-00054-FL-1.
