Broad Daylight Gun Crime Rocks Havaco, West Virginia
Terry Headen, a 47-year-old man from Havaco, McDowell County, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on November 10, 2021, Headen sold an amount of a controlled substance represented to be heroin to a confidential informant in Havaco. During the drug transaction, Headen admitted to possessing an AR-15 style semiautomatic rifle.
With his guilty plea, Headen faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to life in prison, five years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Unit.
Headen is scheduled to be sentenced on January 9, 2023, before Senior United States District Judge David A. Faber. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew D. Isabell is prosecuting the case.
The case is part of a larger effort to combat the opioid crisis and reduce violent crime in the region.
