Stacey Marie Barron, Child Pornography Distribution, Beaumont TX, 2024

BEAUMONT, TX – A depraved network exploiting children has landed three individuals in federal prison, following a grim investigation that unearthed a multi-year child pornography operation. The sentences, handed down today in the Eastern District of Texas, reflect the severity of the crimes and the lasting damage inflicted upon the young victims.

Stacey Marie Barron, 25, of Nederland, Texas, and Johnny Ray Baldwin, II, 28, of Lumberton, Texas, both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce child pornography on August 24, 2012. U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone sentenced Barron to a staggering 276 months in federal prison, while Baldwin will serve 108 months. The pair worked in tandem to create the exploitative material.

The linchpin of the operation, Charles Edward Reese, 67, of Covington, Louisiana, received a 240-month federal prison sentence. Reese wasn’t merely a consumer of the vile content; he financed its production, funneling over $700,000 between 2004 and 2012 to obtain digital images of sexually explicit conduct involving minor children. Judge Crone also ordered Reese to pay $2,819,887.00 in restitution to the victims, ensuring funds are allocated to a special needs trust for their future medical needs. Assets seized by the U.S. Attorney’s Office will contribute to this crucial trust.

The investigation began on February 1, 2012, when federal officials executed a search warrant at a home in Orange County, Texas. The warrant stemmed from a report by an Internet-based image hosting website identifying a customer uploading sexually explicit images of a child. While the adult depicted in the photos was deceased, investigators quickly discovered Reese’s financial involvement, revealing a long-standing pattern of paying for the abuse of children. A subsequent search of Reese’s Louisiana home uncovered a trove of child pornography images and videos. Reese was arrested March 5, 2012, and indicted by a federal grand jury on March 21, 2012.

Further investigation revealed that Barron and Baldwin had been producing the child pornography for Reese from July 2009 to August 2011, exploiting two young children. They were indicted on June 6, 2012. The case was brought forth as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. This multi-agency effort marshals federal, state, and local resources to identify, apprehend, and prosecute offenders and rescue victims.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the FBI, Jefferson County Child Protective Services, the Garth House, Orange County Child Protective Services, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution was led by Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston and Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher T. Tortorice. Those with information about child exploitation are urged to contact the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST.
