Theodise D. Perkins, 23, Gets 51 Months for Fentanyl Trafficking
A St. Louis County man who dealt fentanyl and absconded from federal supervision after his guilty plea has been sentenced to 51 months in prison. Theodise D. Perkins of Florissant, Missouri, pleaded guilty on May 18, 2022, to one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Perkins was caught with a stolen .45-caliber pistol, 19.77 grams of fentanyl in capsules and baggies and $1,004 during a traffic stop in St. Louis on March 4, 2020.
At the time of his arrest, Perkins was riding in a vehicle driven by someone else. The driver led police on an extended car chase, and Perkins attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody. He threw away a loaded gun in the process.
After his guilty plea, Perkins was allowed to remain out on bond. However, he repaid this trust by absconding from pre-trial supervision and failing to show up for his sentencing hearing. He was arrested June 27, 2023, and has been held in jail since that time.
The recommended sentencing guidelines for Perkins were 21 months higher than they would have been had he not fled supervision, Assistant U.S. Attorney Zachary Bluestone said.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the St. Louis County Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Missouri Department of Public Safety investigated the case.
Perkins’ sentence is a result of his actions and a message to those who think they can evade the law. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to bring those who commit crimes to justice.
