Rogers Man Guilty of Kidnapping Texas Woman

In a shocking turn of events, a jury in the Western District of Arkansas has found Theron Vance, a 22-year-old from Rogers, Arkansas, guilty of kidnapping a Texas woman. The crime, which was planned over four months, was designed to prevent the woman from testifying in a criminal case.

The victim, who was attacked in her Dallas, Texas apartment, was taken to the Western District of Arkansas in Bentonville by Vance and his accomplice, Michael Roberts. The victim was told she could either cooperate or she would be killed. She was also told to write a note to her roommate explaining her disappearance, but she also left another note in the refrigerator that said ‘call 911.’

The victim was transported against her will to Bentonville, where she was brought to Vance’s residence. Later that day, the victim was taken to Walmart, where an employee was notified that she had been kidnapped.

According to the evidence presented at the trial, Vance and Roberts impersonated a FBI agent while carrying out the kidnapping. The victim was able to positively identify Vance as one of the individuals that kidnapped her and transported her from Dallas, Texas to Bentonville, Arkansas against her will.

U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge commented on the case, stating, ‘The sheer terror that this victim faced at the hands of the defendants involved in this case is unimaginable. For four months they planned a methodical scheme that they then played out in order to keep her from testifying against one of them.’

Special Agent David T. Resch with the Little Rock FBI Field Office stated, ‘Vance is a criminal who conspired to kidnap and impersonated a FBI Agent while carrying out this violent act.’

Theron Vance was found guilty of one count of Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping and one count of Kidnapping, Aiding, and Abetting. The Honorable Timothy L. Brooks presided over the trial in the United States District Court in Fayetteville. The exact date of the crime was June 14, 2014.
