Jacksonville Man Indicted for Using Minors to Produce Child Pornography
Thomas Leslie Carr, a 48-year-old resident of Jacksonville, Florida, has been charged with two counts of producing child pornography, according to a federal indictment unsealed today.
Carr was arrested at his home today by federal agents, bringing an end to a long investigation by the Lakeland Police Department, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations Tampa and Jacksonville offices.
According to the indictment, Carr used minors to produce child pornography. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years, up to 30 years, in federal prison on each charge.
Carr is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 30, 2016, for his arraignment and detention hearing.
Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown is prosecuting the case.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
It is a reminder that child predators will be brought to justice and that the protection of our children is a top priority.
An indictment is merely a formal charge, and every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
