Juanjava Boggerty, Meth Trafficking, Georgia 2024

ALBANY, Ga – In a blow to Southwest Georgia’s meth trade, Juanjava Boggerty, also known as ‘Jay,’ and Darrell Mack have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their involvement in an 18-defendant armed drug trafficking network centered in Tifton. The sentencing follows a successful Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation.

Boggerty, 49, of Tifton, was handed a 235-month sentence to be followed by five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances on Oct. 12, 2022. Mack, 33, also from Tifton, received 78 months imprisonment plus four years of supervision following his guilty plea to distribution of methamphetamine on Oct. 13, 2022.

U.S. District Judge Louis Sands presided over the sentences handed down on Feb. 2. ‘The Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force has shut down another armed trafficking network in the Middle District of Georgia,’ said U.S. Attorney Peter D. Leary. ‘There is more work to be done as law enforcement at every level continues to identify and stop weaponized criminal groups from causing further harm in our region.’

Robert J. Murphy, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Field Division, emphasized the impact of removing methamphetamine traffickers from the streets. ‘These offenders can no longer distribute this dangerous drug as they now face serious time behind bars for both their drug crimes and violent criminal conduct,’ he said.

ATF Special Agent in Charge Beau Kolodka highlighted the importance of community safety. ‘Cases which result in the arrests and prosecution of armed drug traffickers are fundamental to continuing this initiative while simultaneously showing criminals that ATF and its law enforcement partners will not falter in this mission,’ Kolodka stated.
