Syracuse, NY – In a disturbing case of child exploitation, a 32-year-old man from Kirkville, New York, has pleaded guilty to distributing and possessing child pornography.
Timothy B. Pease, 32, of Kirkville, New York, was arrested on January 23, 2020, and subsequently charged with distribution, receipt, and possession of child pornography. He appeared before Chief United States District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby in Syracuse on January 22, 2021, to enter his guilty plea.
According to the indictment, Pease used various online social networking applications to receive and distribute child pornography between December 2019 and January 2020. During this time, he also posed as a teenage girl on another social networking application, soliciting teenage boys to produce sexually explicit images and videos of themselves, which he then distributed to others.
Pease admitted to possessing thousands of images and videos of child pornography at the time of his arrest. He is facing a minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years in prison, as well as a term of supervised release of between 5 years and life. Upon his release from prison, Pease will be required to register as a sex offender in any state where he lives, is employed, or is a student.
The case was investigated by the FBI Syracuse Mid-State Child Exploitation Task Force, a joint effort between the FBI and the New York State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrian LaRochelle as part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the sexual exploitation of children online.
Pease’s sentencing is scheduled for December 14, 2021. A defendant’s sentence is imposed by a judge based on the statute the defendant violated, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit https://www.justice.gov/psc.
