Pittsburgh Man Indicted for Possessing Child Pornography
A 65-year-old resident of Crafton, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of Possession of Material Depicting the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung announced the indictment on July 12.
The one-count Indictment named Timothy Bryner as the sole defendant. According to the Indictment, Bryner knowingly possessed material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor from June 2021 to March 2022. Bryner is currently on federal supervised release from a previous Child Sexual Abuse Materials possession conviction, for which he served 100 months in prison.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of ten years in prison, a fine of not more than $250,000.00, and a term of supervised release of at least five years. The actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense(s) and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
Bryner is currently being held pending trial. Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin J. Risacher is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment in this case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
