In a shocking turn of events, Timothy Czeiner, a 30-year-old Wilmington man, has pleaded guilty to a string of gun and heroin charges. According to sources, Czeiner was arrested on January 28, 2016, after Wilmington Police Department officers approached him due to outstanding warrants.
During the arrest, officers discovered heroin baggies stamped ‘Empire’ and an ‘Empire’ stamp on the floor of the passenger side of the car. Upon searching the vehicle, they found two boxes of empty heroin baggies and a Mercedes car key.
Further investigation led officers to the Mercedes, which was located in the driveway of Czeiner’s residence. In the trunk of the vehicle, they found approximately 350 grams of bulk heroin, thousands of empty blue glassine heroin baggies, a 9 mm. handgun, a magazine loaded with eight 9 mm rounds of ammunition, and other drug paraphernalia.
During a subsequent search of Czeiner’s cell phone, officers discovered a video taken on January 15, 2016, which depicted Czeiner handling four guns, including a DPMS, AR-10, .308 Caliber Rifle, a MKA 1919 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun, an FN PS90, 5.7 x 28, and a Century Arms AK47, 7.62 x 39. As a felon, Czeiner was not permitted to possess guns.
Czeiner was subsequently arrested again on September 8, 2016, in possession of marijuana and heroin. Officers searched his residence and found over 6,000 baggies of heroin, with a preliminary weight of approximately 92 grams. Czeiner admitted to dealing heroin since April 2016 and stated that his source of supply was in Philadelphia.
Acting United States Attorney David C. Weiss stated, ‘The lethal combination of guns and drugs continues to cause far too many deaths in the city of Wilmington. This case is an example of law enforcement’s absolute commitment to protect this community and hold offenders accountable.’
Czeiner is facing a five-year mandatory minimum and a maximum of 40 years of incarceration on the heroin charge, a maximum of 10 years of incarceration on the gun possession charges, and a five-year mandatory minimum and a maximum of life imprisonment on the gun in furtherance of drug trafficking charge.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer K. Welsh, and the FBI’s Violent Crime Safe Streets Task Force is part of the New Castle County HIDTA, a collaborative effort established in January 2015 between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
