Timothy Lee King, a 33-year-old from Groveland, has been arrested on a federal firearm charge. According to the United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg, King has been indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a charge that could land him up to 15 years in federal prison.
King’s troubled past is marked by 11 prior felony convictions, including fleeing and eluding law enforcement, burglary, and two prior convictions for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. On January 16, 2024, King was found to be in possession of a firearm and ammunition, a clear violation of federal law given his prior convictions.
The indictment against King is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Leesburg Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk, who will seek to prove that King knowingly and willfully possessed a firearm and ammunition despite being prohibited from doing so under federal law.
