A 30-year-old man from Lake Katrine, New York, is facing up to 40 years in prison after being convicted of distributing fentanyl in Ulster County.
Timothy Schleede, age 30, of Lake Katrine, New York, pled guilty to one count of distribution of a controlled substance and one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman; Ray Donovan, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New York Division; and Ulster County Sheriff Juan Figueroa.
According to the plea, Schleede distributed a fentanyl mixture in glassine envelopes to another person in a mall parking lot in Ulster, New York, on August 26, 2020. He was arrested later the same day after selling glassine envelopes containing the same fentanyl mixture in a hotel parking lot in Ulster. Search warrants executed on Schleede’s hotel room and storage locker recovered approximately 8,000 additional glassine envelopes, which contained fentanyl and heroin.
As a result of his convictions, Schleede faces at least 5 years and up to 40 years in prison, when he is sentenced by United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino on February 28, 2022. A defendant’s sentence is imposed by a judge based on the particular statutes the defendant is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors.
This case was investigated by the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) and the DEA, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Emmet O’Hanlon.
The Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) and the DEA worked together to bring Timothy Schleede to justice. This case is a prime example of the efforts of law enforcement agencies in Ulster County to combat the opioid crisis.
