Timothy Stephens, Possessing Unregistered Machinegun as Convicted Felon, Florida 2024

Orlando Man Caught with Unregistered Machinegun, Federal Charges Follow

Timothy Stephens, a 25-year-old Orlando resident, has been indicted for possessing an unregistered machinegun as a convicted felon. According to the indictment, on October 17, 2024, Stephens was found in possession of a Glock Model 30 with a machinegun conversion device installed.

As a convicted felon, Stephens is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law. Additionally, the machinegun was not registered to Stephens in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

If convicted of the felon in possession offense, Stephens faces up to 15 years in federal prison. If convicted of possessing an unregistered machinegun, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Orlando Police Department. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kaley Austin-Aronson.
