Airport Security Breach Lands Man in Prison
A former employee of the Philadelphia International Airport has been sentenced to nine days in prison for his role in helping another person bypass airport security.
Tiriq Henson, 34, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to nine days’ incarceration, followed by two years of supervised release, by United States District Judge Gail A. Weilheimer for his crime.
According to court filings, on March 9, 2024, Henson, who was employed as a wheelchair assistant at the airport at the time, aided and abetted the entry of his associate, David Easley, into a secure airport area.
Henson permitted Easley to use his security badge and credentials to bypass airport security entirely and gain access to the boarding area reserved for screened passengers.
Easley, who also pleaded guilty to the same offense, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the FBI, with significant assistance from the Transportation Security Administration and the Philadelphia Police Department, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Priya De Souza.
This disturbing incident highlights the importance of airport security and the need for strict protocols to prevent such breaches from occurring in the future.
