Toborus Dontay Cunningham, a 33-year-old Sarasota man, was found guilty of drug trafficking and firearms offenses.
A federal jury convicted Cunningham of possession with intent to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of his drug trafficking offense.
Cunningham faces a maximum penalty of 40 years in federal prison for the drug trafficking charge and a mandatory consecutive 5 years’ imprisonment for the firearms offense.
According to the evidence presented at trial, Cunningham was a supplier to other drug dealers in the Sarasota area.
During the course of the investigation, law enforcement officers found over 2000 grams of cocaine in Cunningham’s home, and five firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his home and office.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Sarasota Police Department, and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorneys Natalie Hirt Adams and James C. Preston are prosecuting the case against Cunningham.
