Tokumba Miller, a 35-year-old resident of Metairie, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for his involvement in a heroin trafficking conspiracy and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Miller pleaded guilty on January 30, 2013, to making several sales of heroin to confidential sources and delivering the drug to various individuals. Law enforcement arrested Miller in New Orleans after he appeared to conduct another heroin sale.
During a search of Miller’s apartment in Metairie, authorities found a small amount of heroin, cutting agents, drug paraphernalia, a machine press, ammunition, and a loaded .32 caliber handgun. Due to Miller’s prior felony convictions, including drug offenses in state court, he was prohibited by federal law from possessing a firearm.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New Orleans Police Department, and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin G. Boitmann prosecuted the case.
In addition to the 120-month prison term, U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan imposed eight years of supervised release following Miller’s imprisonment. During this period, he will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment if he violates any terms of his supervised release.
Miller’s sentence is a result of his guilty plea and the evidence presented in the case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office commends the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of this case.
