New Orleans Men Sentenced for Drug Conspiracy
In a significant blow to the city’s narcotics trade, four New Orleans men have been sentenced for their roles in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute a quantity of heroin and a quantity of cocaine base.
According to court documents, Jerry Spencer, Jr., 29, Mitchell Lee, 28, and Terrance Timmons, 33, all residents of New Orleans, were sentenced to terms of imprisonment of 72 months, 78 months, and 60 months, respectively, followed by three years of supervised release for each.
Jerry Spencer, Jr., Mitchell Lee, and Terrance Timmons were arrested on May 15, 2014, after a year-long investigation by federal and state law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The investigation revealed that the defendants’ drug trafficking activity occurred in an area of New Orleans referred to as the ‘horseshoe’ or the ‘shoe’.
Additionally, Troy Adam, 50, a resident of New Orleans, was sentenced to a three-year term of probation for his role in distributing a quantity of heroin. Devin Timmons, a co-defendant, is scheduled to be sentenced on October 2, 2014.
The case was investigated by the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the New Orleans Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Theodore Carter prosecuted the case.
The sentencing comes as a significant victory for law enforcement efforts to combat narcotics trafficking in New Orleans. The defendants’ actions demonstrate the devastating consequences of their involvement in the city’s narcotics trade.
