Ex-Postal Worker Sentenced to Prison for Trafficking Cocaine
A shocking case of corruption within law enforcement has come to light in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Rayvonna Taylor, a 28-year-old former letter carrier, has been sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison for trafficking cocaine.
Between August 2015 and May 2016, Taylor facilitated the delivery of approximately 20 parcels containing cocaine, revealing a disturbing pattern of abuse of her position as a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier.
Taylor was assigned to various routes on days when the narcotics parcels were delivered. She provided addresses on her route that parcels could be addressed to, then diverting those parcels to a drug dealer in exchange for money, according to court documents.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Vasile Katsaros following an investigation.
Taylor’s actions not only put the lives of innocent people at risk but also undermined the trust that people have in law enforcement agencies. Her sentence serves as a reminder that corruption will not be tolerated and that those who abuse their positions of power will be held accountable.
The people of Cleveland Heights can rest assured that justice has been served, and that Taylor will face the consequences of her actions for the next 2 years and 3 months.
