Steven Brzezinski, 35, of Tonawanda, NY, is headed to federal prison after being sentenced to 96 months for receiving child pornography from a minor, marking the latest fall from grace for a man already on probation for endangering a child.
U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced the sentence, which includes 20 years of supervised release following prison time, handed down by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara in Buffalo, N.Y. The conviction stems from a digital trail that exposed not only Brzezinski’s possession of illegal material but a disturbing online relationship with a 15-year-old boy.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Lamarque, who prosecuted the case, forensic examination of a tablet in Brzezinski’s possession uncovered explicit images and a pattern of communication through Facebook Messenger. The exchanges revealed Brzezinski was romantically involved with the underage victim and had received child pornography directly from the minor.
The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation under the direction of Gary Loeffert and Homeland Security Investigations, overseen by Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly. Agents traced digital footprints across platforms, building a case that cut through the facade of a private online life.
Brzezinski’s criminal history adds a layer of severity to the conviction. He was already on probation for a prior conviction of endangering the welfare of a child—raising questions about supervision and repeat offenses in high-risk cases.
The 96-month sentence sends a clear message: federal authorities are cracking down on those who exploit minors, especially when technology is weaponized to groom and victimize children. Brzezinski will face lifelong monitoring upon release, a permanent scar in the digital and legal record.
