Defendant Faces 30 Years in Prison for Crop Insurance Scam
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tracy E. Dillard, a 45-year-old farmer from Fountain Run, Kentucky, has been charged with crop insurance fraud in a federal Information announced by Acting U.S. Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr.
According to the Information, Dillard allegedly aided and abetted by others, knowingly made false statements and reports on applications for insurance. The false statements were made for the purpose of influencing the actions of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation and Producers Agriculture Insurance Company, a company insured by the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation.
The alleged violations occurred between August 26, 2010, and March 10, 2011, in the Western District of Kentucky, Allen County, Kentucky, and elsewhere.
Tracy E. Dillard faces up to 30 years in prison, a fine of $1,000,000, and a five-year period of supervised release if convicted at trial. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser and is being investigated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of Inspector General (OIG).
Tracy E. Dillard’s indictment is an accusation only, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case is a reminder of the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions and ensuring that the integrity of our nation’s crop insurance program is maintained.
