Defendant Sentenced to Prison for Methamphetamine Possession

Tracy Inman, a 43-year-old woman from Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 150 months in prison for one count of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine (actual).

United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher imposed the sentence in federal court in Omaha. In addition to her prison term, Inman will be placed on supervised release for 5 years after serving her sentence. It’s worth noting that there is no parole in the federal system.

The charges against Inman stem from a traffic stop conducted by the Omaha Police Department on or about September 12, 2020. At the time, Inman was driving a minivan without plates and no visible in-transits. Officers conducted a data check and drafted a citation while canine officers arrived and deployed a state-certified drug-detection canine around Inman’s vehicle. The canine indicated the presence of narcotics emanating from the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found small baggies containing methamphetamine residue, a tin containing 3.1 grams of methamphetamine mixture, and paraphernalia. A search of Inman revealed 49.684 grams of methamphetamine. In a backpack on the back seat of the vehicle, officers found an additional 72.172 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale. Inman was aware of the presence of methamphetamine in the vehicle and intended to distribute some or all of it to another person.

Subsequent lab tests conducted by the Nebraska Public Service Laboratory confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in Inman’s vehicle, with a total weight of 121.856 grams. The tests also determined the purity of the recovered methamphetamine to be 95%, resulting in a minimum amount of actual methamphetamine of 109.67 grams.

The investigation into Inman’s activities was led by the Omaha Police Department. United States Attorney Steven Russell announced the sentencing, marking a significant victory in the ongoing fight against methamphetamine trafficking in the region. Inman’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences for those involved in the distribution of this highly addictive and destructive substance.
