A Bossier City man has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, a crime that has shocked the community and highlights the growing concern of child exploitation.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Travis Eugene Henson, 42, of Bossier City, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography on Wednesday. The crime was committed on April 25, 2016, when law enforcement agents identified Henson as someone who was actively downloading child pornography.
His home was searched, and child pornography was found on various electronic media within his home. A forensic analysis of the media revealed that it contained over a million files, with a majority being child pornography.
Henson faces up to 20 years in prison, five years to life of supervised release, mandatory registration as a sex offender, forfeiture of property seized during the investigation, and a $250,000 fine.
The court has set the sentencing date for June 16, 2017. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) also encourage the public to report suspected child predators and any suspicious activity through its toll-free hotline at (866) 347-2423. Investigators are available at all hours to answer hotline calls.
