Travis Tucker, a 30-year-old convicted sex offender from Meade County, Kentucky, stood before federal judge David J. Hale in Louisville today and pleaded guilty to transporting and possessing child pornography. Tucker, already registered on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry due to a prior conviction, admitted to uploading and storing thousands of illegal images depicting children in sexually explicit conduct.
The charges stem from a February 17, 2016, grand jury indictment following multiple Cybertip reports filed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities traced the uploads to a Google Plus account linked to the email address TravisTucker697@gmail.com. Investigators determined the uploads occurred on four separate occasions in October 2014, all originating from Tucker’s digital footprint.
On January 14, 2015, Kentucky State Police executed a search warrant at Tucker’s Meade County residence. Agents seized multiple digital devices, including computers and storage drives. A forensic analysis revealed thousands of images of child pornography, many of which had been downloaded and shared via the internet, deepening the scope of his criminal activity.
Tucker was previously convicted of a child pornography offense prior to the 2014 incidents, making his return to similar criminal behavior a federal violation under enhanced sentencing laws for repeat offenders. At the time of the charged offenses, he was actively listed on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry, underscoring a pattern of predatory conduct and disregard for court-mandated restrictions.
As part of a plea agreement, federal prosecutors will dismiss Count 1 of the indictment—transporting child pornography—and recommend a 15-year prison sentence followed by lifetime supervised release. U.S. Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr. announced the plea, emphasizing the federal commitment to targeting repeat offenders who exploit children through digital means.
The case was investigated by Kentucky State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jo Lawless. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled. Tucker remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
