A Farrell man has been charged with violating federal narcotic laws in a case that has left the community shaken.
Travis W. Black, 27, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of conspiring with others to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine.
According to the indictment, the crimes took place from in and around August 2010, and continuing thereafter to on or about Nov. 4, 2012, in the Western District of Pennsylvania.
The indictment alleges that on or about Sept. 1, Oct. 29, and Oct. 31, 2010, Black distributed and possessed with the intent to distribute cocaine.
Black faces a maximum total sentence of 30 years in prison, a fine of $2,000,000, or both, if convicted. The actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Eric S. Rosen is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office and the Mercer County Drug Task Force conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
