A brazen scheme to alter and forge US Treasury checks has landed a Kansas City man 57 months in prison. Jevon P. Crudup Jr., 25, preyed on unsuspecting victims who shared their account info online, then plundered their accounts using ATMs and online payment systems.

Prosecutors say Crudup deposited at least 15 forged checks, racking up an intended loss of $160,000. He pleaded guilty to bank fraud on May 20, 2025, and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Grey Kays.

Crudup’s victims were lured in with promises of easy cash, but ended up footing the bill for his get-rich-quick scam. He’s now facing a hefty restitution bill of $88,020.33.
