Trevor Arthur Junior Campbell Charged with Re-Entering U.S. Illegally
A federal indictment has been returned against Trevor Arthur Junior Campbell, a 41-year-old Jamaican citizen, for allegedly re-entering the United States illegally after being deported to Jamaica, said Carole S. Rendon, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
Campbell was previously found in the United States after being deported on August 11, 1997. According to the indictment, Campbell had previously entered the country and was deported in 1997 after being convicted of an aggravated felony. He was later found in Cleveland.
The case against Campbell is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Karrie D. Howard following an investigation by the United States Immigration and Custom Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security.
Under federal law, the sentence for re-entering the U.S. illegally can be determined by the court after review of various factors, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, their role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation. If convicted, Campbell’s sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum, but will likely be less in most cases.
It’s worth noting that an indictment is only a charge, and is not evidence of guilt. Campbell is entitled to a fair trial, in which the government will have the burden of proving his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
The alleged violation of U.S. immigration laws is a serious offense, and Campbell’s actions have serious consequences for himself and for the country as a whole. The investigation and prosecution of this case is a testament to the commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold the law and protect the sovereignty of the United States.
Trevor Arthur Junior Campbell’s case serves as a reminder of the importance of immigration laws and the need for strict enforcement. As the Northern District of Ohio continues to prioritize public safety and national security, cases like this will remain a top priority.
The prosecution of this case is being led by Assistant United States Attorney Karrie D. Howard, with assistance from the United States Immigration and Custom Enforcement. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming.
