Troy Allen Stevenson Found Guilty of Involuntary Manslaughter in Muskogee, Oklahoma
A federal jury has convicted 22-year-old Troy Allen Stevenson of involuntary manslaughter in Indian Country for the shooting of his father on July 17, 2021.
The jury trial began on October 11, 2022, and concluded on October 13, 2022, with the guilty verdict. The investigation was led by the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma prosecuted the case because the defendant is a member of a federally-recognized Indian tribe and the crime occurred in Sequoyah County, within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation, and within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over the trial and ordered the completion of a presentence report. Sentencing will be scheduled following completion of the report. Stevenson was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending the imposition of sentencing.
Assistant United States Attorney Kevin Gross and Assistant United States Attorney Derick Blakely represented the United States in the case.

Troy Allen Stevenson is scheduled to be sentenced at a later date. The court will determine an appropriate sentence based on the severity of the crime and the defendant’s prior record.
