ALBANY, NEW YORK – Troy’s Dusty Oliver Jr., 36, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for attempting to entice and coerce a minor into performing sex acts.
The disturbing case came to light when Oliver responded to an advertisement on a social-networking site, believing he was communicating with the guardian of a 13-year-old girl. On June 26, 2024, from Troy, he traveled to Lake George, New York, paying $240 to gain access to the child for sex acts.
United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino imposed the 10-year prison term and a subsequent 10-year supervised release, in addition to ordering Oliver to forfeit the phone used in the offense. He will also be registered as a sex offender upon his release.
Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III commented on the sentence, emphasizing the severity of Oliver’s actions and the commitment of the office to protect communities from pedophiles like him.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli echoed these sentiments, highlighting the FBI’s dedication to protecting the vulnerable and bringing child predators to justice.
This case was investigated by the FBI Albany’s Child Exploitation Task Force, a collaborative effort involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carling Dunham prosecuted the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse.
