Truck Smuggling Scandal Rocks Texas: 115 Caught in Refrigerated Trailer
LAREDO, Texas – A shocking discovery was made on a Texas highway, leaving authorities stunned. A 43-year-old truck driver, Michael Warren Mccoy, allegedly attempted to smuggle 115 undocumented individuals in a refrigerated trailer.
According to the charges, authorities encountered a tractor hauling a white refrigerated trailer on U.S. Highway 59, approximately eight miles east of Laredo. A traffic stop was conducted due to a failure to drive in a single lane.
Law enforcement allegedly cut the seal on the trailer doors, revealing the shocking truth. A total of 115 undocumented individuals were found inside, leading authorities to believe that Mccoy expected to be paid $250 for the transport. This is not his first rodeo, as he allegedly made three previous, similar trips.
The investigation is being conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Border Patrol. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony Garrie Brown is prosecuting the case. If convicted, Mccoy faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine.
