A massive enforcement operation in Arizona netted 226 individuals for immigration-related crimes this week, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
The sweep, which ran from March 28 to April 3, 2026, targeted those who illegally re-entered the United States, those who entered the country illegally, and human traffickers who smuggled migrants into and within the District.
Of the 226 charged, 117 were accused of re-entering the country illegally, 95 were accused of entering the country illegally, and 14 were accused of smuggling migrants for profit.
Among the cases of note is that of Porfirio Astorga-Rivera, a Mexican national who allegedly led a group of three migrants through a border wall opening in Wellton, Arizona, for a $1,000 fee per migrant. Astorga-Rivera and the other two migrants were caught wearing camouflage clothing and carpet shoes.
The cases were referred or supported by federal law enforcement agencies, including ICE, FBI, DEA, ATF, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
