Tulsa Man Sentenced to 11 Years for Drunk Driving Murder

A devastating drunk driving collision in 2019 took the life of Jennifer Holt, a 37-year-old woman from Sand Springs. On South Garnett Road, a reckless driver, later identified as 37-year-old Hector Manuel Hernandez of Tulsa, rear-ended a car and then fled the scene, ultimately striking Holt’s automobile head-on.

Hernandez, a repeat offender who had previously been convicted of DUI in Rogers County in 2007, had a blood alcohol level of 0.250 at the time of the collision.

On March 2021, Hernandez pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, a charge that carried significant weight in his sentencing. U.S. District Judge Terence C. Kern handed down a 11-year prison sentence, followed by five years of supervised release.

The Broken Arrow Police, in collaboration with the FBI and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, led the investigation into the tragic incident. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Bish prosecuted the case, ensuring that Hernandez would face justice for his heinous crime.
