Drug kingpins fall in Muskogee, Oklahoma
Two Muskogee men, KEVIN BERNARD GREEN, age 35, and ELIJAH ALFRED MAYES, JR., age 35, both of Muskogee, Oklahoma were sentenced in federal court for their roles in a cocaine conspiracy.
GREEN was sentenced to 132 months imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release for Drug Conspiracy, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 846, 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(A) and MAYES, JR., was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment, for Drug Conspiracy, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 846, 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B). According to the indictment, the defendants coordinated and orchestrated the transportation of cocaine from source locations to the Eastern District of Oklahoma and used telephones, cellular and otherwise, to conduct and carry out the organization’s objectives.
The charges arose from a joint investigation by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, the Muskogee Police Department, the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Department and the United States Marshal Service. Assistant United States Attorney Shannon Henson represented the United States.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over the hearings. The defendants will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which they will serve their nonparoleable sentences.
According to court documents, the defendants were involved in a large-scale cocaine trafficking operation that spanned multiple counties in Eastern Oklahoma. Their actions put countless lives at risk and caused irreparable harm to families and communities.
The sentencing of GREEN and MAYES, JR. brings a sense of relief to the people of Muskogee and the surrounding areas. It serves as a reminder that those involved in drug trafficking will be held accountable for their actions and face severe consequences.
