Tyler County Man Admits to Firearms Violation

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A Tyler County man has admitted to a firearms charge, sparking concerns about public safety.

Michael John Maisey, 49, of Sistersville, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm on [Date]. Maisey was found to be in possession of a 9mm caliber pistol in July 2018 in Tyler County.

According to court documents, Maisey was prohibited from possessing a firearm, making his actions a serious crime. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the New Martinsville Police Department investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn M. Adkins is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. presided over the case.
